Membership Cancellation Policy

Subscription Fees

Credit card holder’s, or PayPal, account is immediately charged upon signup.  Thereafter members are charged automatically on either a monthly or annual basis, depending on the payment frequency they choose. Monthly memberships are charged on the same day each month, occurring one month plus one day as the original transaction date.  For example, if you sign up for a monthly payment plan and the original transaction date is April 10th, the next monthly transaction would occur on May 11th and subsequent transactions would be on the 11th of each month thereafter until canceled. Annual memberships are charged on the same day each year, one year plus one day as the original transaction. For example, if you sign up for an annual payment plan and the original transaction is on April 10th, the next transaction would occur on April 11th the following year and every year thereafter until canceled. Discounts, rebates, or other special offers are only valid for the initial term; subscriptions renew at the then-current full subscription rates.

U.S. Backgammon Federation may terminate the subscription and these terms if it cannot renew the subscription based on inaccurate or outdated credit card information. The right of access granted under these Terms is effective only upon payment of the subscription fees.

Cancelling Account

You can cancel your membership subscription from your profile page on usbgf.org under My Membership. Alternatively, you may contact us at hello@usbgf.org to request cancellation.  Note that email requests make take up to seven (7) days to process your cancellation.

Once you cancel your membership subscription, if you have days left on your membership, you will not lose access immediately. Your membership will continue through the end of your current charge cycle. For example, if you are paying monthly and your credit card or PayPal account payment due date is the 11th of the month, and you cancel on April 25th, you will not lose access until May 11th. Similarily if you are paying yearly and cancel your membership, you will recieve your full membership benefits that you have paid for up until your expiration date.

Refunds

Subscription fees are non-refundable. Your membership will continue month-to-month or year-to-year (depending on the payment plan you choose) until your membership is canceled by you or terminated by us. Any payments due under this Agreement before the cancellation or termination effective date will be charged by us as scheduled.

Community Policy Short Version

Respect the Game and Respect the Community

In providing this space, the U.S. Backgammon Federation (USBGF) strives to build a stronger, healthier backgammon community. We welcome members to participate, provided they follow our rules. In short, if you act in a kind and courteous manner and show respect to all community members, you will not violate any of the rules. If you have any doubt about what constitutes kind, courteous, or respectful behavior, well, you should probably read the long version.

Community Policy Long Version

What’s my game plan?

The USBGF’s Mission Statement is:

A not-for-profit organization devoted to advancing the awareness, participation,
education and enjoyment of the skill-based game of backgammon.

Our objective is to grow the game in all demographics, including youths. As such, this forum should be considered family-friendly. If it’s not something you would want your 12-year-old son or daughter to read, you probably shouldn’t post it. We want all members of the backgammon community to feel comfortable coming to this forum. The best way to ensure that is by treating everyone with respect — as you would like them to treat you.

Can I make a point?

This forum is primarily for backgammon-related topics. There are plenty of social platforms available for other topics. Off-topic posts are discouraged but not prohibited. There are some specific exceptions:

  1. Posts of a religious nature will be taken down.
  2. Purely political posts will be taken down. Posts with political references, allusions, or implications will typically be taken down.
  3. Posts of a sexual nature, or containing clearly sexual innuendo, will typically be taken down.
  4. Posts advertising backgammon items or services are allowed, provided they are not excessive. Any other advertising will be taken down.
  5. Any post deemed to be Spam will be taken down.
  6. Members who make excessive off-topic posts may be asked to stick to backgammon.

Can I attack?

Personal attacks will not be tolerated. It is OK to disagree with someone’s positions, opinions, or actions, provided the disagreement is respectful. But it is NOT OK to attack an individual or group of individuals at a personal level.

Discrimination of any sort will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Race
  2. Religion
  3. National Origin
  4. Gender or Gender identity
  5. Sexual orientation
  6. Body size
  7. ANY reason!

If you have a personal dispute with a specific individual, this forum is not the place to air it. Please take such discussions offline!

Trolling, rants, and hijacking posts are strongly discouraged. Offenders may be warned, and repeat offenders may be sanctioned.

Can I play purely?

Always be respectful. Think before you post. If you wouldn’t want to see someone post something about YOU, then you probably should not post it about them.

Please keep your language clean. We recognize that there is a wide range of what different people find acceptable. Still, we do want the site to be family-friendly. The USBGF rules do not explicitly prohibit foul language. However, posts or comments with vulgar, offensive or profane language are subject to edit or removal. Content will definitely be taken down if the foul language is:

  1. Directed AT an individual or group of individuals
  2. Excessive or gratuitous
  3. Clearly meant only to provoke a reaction

Illegal plays

Posts that promote, support, or exhibit any harmful or illegal activity will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Drugs
  2. Pornography
  3. Scams
  4. Terrorist activity
  5. Human trafficking
  6. Hate crimes
  7. Bullying
  8. Self-harm/suicide
  9. Basically, anything that is against the law!

How can I keep from dancing?

As long as you follow the rules and treat everyone with respect, you are welcome to participate. Violations of the rules could result in the suspension of posting rights. Repeated violations would typically result in harsher sanctions, up to an outright ban from the site, or even revocation of USBGF membership.

We want this to be an open and welcoming space. Following the rules outlined above while being kind and respectful will help us build a larger and stronger backgammon community. The USBGF thanks you for your cooperation and support.
