Marty Storer
Marty has served on the Board since 2016, and is now a member of the Executive Committee. He is Executive Editor of PrimeTime Backgammon, where he has been a frequent contributor for many years, also having had other editorial roles for the magazine. He is a renowned backgammon author and player, recently rated as a Grandmaster 1 by the Backgammon Masters Awarding Body (BMAB). He won the inaugural American Backgammon Tour in 1993. He has been among the top 32 Giants of Backgammon three times, and was #40 in 1995. He is a three-time champion of the New England Backgammon Club. Among other good results, he won the 2015 Michigan Summer Championship and the 2015 USBGF National Championship East, and in 2019 he won the Boston Masters, finishing second in the Boston Open. He played on the winning U.S. team in the 2020 Magriel Cup against the U.K., and finished second in the 2020 Tournament of Stars (playing with David Kettler). He wrote the acclaimed two-volume Backgammon Praxis (2005) featuring matches of Malcolm Davis, and co-authored a book of middle game strategy, What’s Your Game Plan?, with Mary Hickey (2011). He lives in New Hampshire with his family, which includes several pet mammals and bots.
