Joseph Russell
Joseph Russell is Chairman and a member of the USBGF Board of Directors and Executive Committee and chairs the Education Committee. He has been voted one of the Giants of Backgammon 5 times. He is one of the four members of the U.S. team in the inaugural International Backgammon Championships. He has many international, national, and regional wins including the 1989 World Championship in Monte Carlo and the 1995 ABT championship. In 2011, he was a semi-finalist in the California State Super 48 Jackpot and the Los Angeles Super 48 Jackpot. In 2010 he won the 2010 Las Vegas Super Jackpot, the 2010 Los Angeles Super 32 Jackpot, finished third in the main event of the Los Angeles Open, was a semifinalist in the main event of the Nevada State Open, finished 2nd in the Nevada Super Jackpot, and was 1st in the Consolation of the California State Championship. In 2009, he won the California State Championship and placed 2nd in the U.S. Open.
Mr. Russell has spent the majority of his career as a software designer. He holds a BA from California State University, Los Angeles. Mr. Russell has two children, Josh and Katie. He enjoys cycling, golf, theater, and music.
