Karen Davis, Ph.D., is a former member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the USBGF and a former co-chair of the Joint Membership and Marketing Committee. She serves as Managing Editor of the PrimeTime Backgammon electronic magazine and writes news and player profile articles for the magazine.

She is currently the Eugene and Mildred Lipitz Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management and Director of the Roger C. Lipitz Center for Integrated Health Care at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. The center strives to discover and disseminate practical, cost-effective approaches to providing comprehensive, coordinated, and compassionate health care to chronically ill people and their families. She served as President of The Commonwealth Fund from 1995-2012, and prior to that was Chairman of the Department of Health Policy and Management at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health Policy in the Department of Health and Human Services, head of a US Public Health Service Agency, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., a visiting lecturer at Harvard University and an assistant professor of economics at Rice University. She received her Ph.D. in economics from Rice University. She has written extensively on health and social policy issues and received numerous awards and recognition for her public service.

Her backgammon victories include Ohio Open, Consolation 1st (2013); 2nd place in the Pittsburgh Labor Day Masters Jackpot (2012), 2nd in the Michigan Masters Jackpot (2012), 2nd in the Chicago Open Seniors event (2012); and 2nd in the California State Doubles event (2012). She also won the USBGF Online Circuit II in October 2012.
