We are pleased to announce that Marty Storer and Rich Munitz will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 2022 USBGF Awards Dinner, to be held on Saturday, June 11, at the 44th Los Angeles Open.

Marty and Rich are readily recognized as distinguished world-class players. Perhaps not as well known are their many years of service to the American backgammon community. This is a brief summation of why I believe they are deserving of our recognition and gratitude.

Marty Storer

Well known as a Giant of Backgammon and a BMAB Grandmaster Class 1, Marty is also the Executive Editor of PrimeTime Backgammon magazine. Published four times a year, PrimeTime is considered by many to be the finest game magazine in the world because of its consistent level of quality. In addition to the articles and position analyses that he writes for PrimeTime, Marty has also authored books. His writing style makes his analysis accessible to players of all skill levels with an occasional indulgence of humor. Until recently, Marty served on the USBGF Board of Directors as its Secretary and on the Executive Committee.

Rich Munitz

Also well known as a Giant of Backgammon, Rich has won the American Backgammon Tour two times. He is the director of the New York City Backgammon Meetup Club, a group with more than 2,000 members. Rich is one of the longest-serving Directors of the USBGF since its founding in 2009. He chairs the Rules and Ethics Committee and the Ratings and Stats Committee. As part of those roles, he authors a regular column in PrimeTime called “What’s The Ruling.” Most recently, Rich developed our new Online Tournament System (OTS).

Please pick up a copy of the Spring issue of PrimeTime and learn more about these fine contributors to our community.

Congratulations to Marty and Rich!
