The New York Metro Open will be held at the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson from January 5-8, 2017. The USBGF is donating $1000 added money for highest-placing USBGF member in the Mini-Match event. The Liberty Cup Masters and Limited Jackpot will begin on Thursday, January 5 at 1:30 pm. The main Championship and Intermediate events will begin on Friday, January 6 at 1:30 pm. The Beginner’s event starts at noon on Saturday, January 7. There will be side-events galore: Seniors, Doubles, Mini-Match, and Blitzes. This tournament is video friendly.
Novice entrants will receive a book prize from the U.S. Backgammon Foundation, and a free six-month trial membership to the U.S. Backgammon Federation from individual donors. Do encourage local club players and family members who are new to tournament play to give it a try. Be sure you are eligible by joining or renewing your membership before you go.
