The new and exciting ABT Cherry Blossom Backgammon Championship is set for April 6 – 9 at the Marriott Washington Dulles Airport Hotel. Make your reservations by calling 1.800.228.9290 and mentioning Cherry Blossom Backgammon to secure the $109 daily rate plus taxes before March 14th. This ABT tournament includes Championship, Advanced and Novice flights, as well as the Cherry Blossom Jackpot, George Washington Masters Jackpot, and Abraham Lincoln Limited Jackpot. There is also  the Hall of States / Embassy Row Team Challenge with 3 players from same state or non-US country, the Senior Senators / Young Politicos, and the Alfred Mamlet Newcomers Freeroll.

The Tournament of Stars pairs USBGF Founding Sponsors with Giants of Backgammon and noteworthy players. A USBGF Blitz event will run throughout. The BMAB-USA Tournament is scheduled for Thursday, April 6, starting at 10:30 am — spaces are limited to 16 so let us know if you plan to play. On Sunday Victor Ashkenazi vs. Marty Storer will play a Teaching Match with commentary by Mochy Mochizuki. Jackpots and a Tavla Tournament – Middle Eastern Rules — will wrap up the tournament on Sunday. Come and enjoy all the fun! 

$1000 additional money for USBGF members is available, so join or renew before you go or at the tournament.

Tournament sponsor P-40 is providing a P-40 board to the Championship winner and will have an exhibit booth to demonstrate how to design a personalized backgammon board. Win a board in a P-40 Jackpot!

Donors are providing prizes for Advanced and Novice winners and a surprise tournament favor for all entrants! A silent auction will be held to raise funds for the U.S. Backgammon Foundation to support backgammon educational activities. Donated items to this 501c3 organization are tax-deductible.

You’ll love the beautiful trophies and chances to take home a Washington D.C. souvenir! Coveted free passes to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture are available for Friday April 7 at 3 pm. Guests and novices should plan to catch the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade on Saturday morning. A hospitality desk will help with arrangements.

A special event for novices is a private dinner with #1 Giant of Backgammon Masayuki (Mochy) Mochizuki on Saturday at 5 PM. All Novice entrants will receive a book prize from the U.S. Backgammon Foundation and a free one-year trial membership. Do encourage local club players and family members who are new to tournament play to give it a try.

Backgammon Learning Center bootcamps will be offered on Wednesday April 5 from 1-5 pm and 7-11 pm.
