College Clubs

The U.S. Backgammon Federation firmly believes that the growth of the American backgammon community is in the hands of its young people.  The USBGF is committed to cultivating and supporting this growth by starting college and university backgammon clubs throughout the country!

Have an idea where a club might be started?  Know someone who would like to start or sponsor a club at their location?  Want to connect with clubs now being formed? Send an email to: EducationAdviser@usbgf.org with “Start A Club” in the subject line, and someone will contact you to assist in getting the ball rolling!

If you would like to donate used boards, volunteer to help with a college club, or contribute to the US Backgammon Foundation to support educational activities including scholarships for inter-collegiate team winners or purchase of backgammon boards for high schools, contact EducationAdviser@usbgf.org Read more about the Boards For Kids! program here: Boards for Kids!

The U.S. Backgammon Federation congratulates UCLA winner of the 2011 USBGF National Collegiate Backgammon Championship on April 23, 2011 and its team members Dan Ben-Moshe, Joe Roth, and Ashim Ahuja!  Northwestern University team with players Uri Magaram, Naveed Heydari,  Kerem Taskin, and Michael Harper* finished second.  Third and fourth place teams were: Indiana University (Benjamin Hugon, Brian Rogers, Eric Wallace), Princeton (Kamron Saniee, Boris Alexeev, Onder Polat). Fifth through eight place went to: Clemson (Ben Cousins, Justen Brewster, Christopher Corsi), Harvey Mudd College (Jeff Burkert, Emily Fischer*, Louis Ryan, Jonathan Schwartz), a second Northwestern team (Jesse Anderson-Leyman, Stephen Bock, and Michael Davis), and Yale (Ryan McKinnon, Yuval Bussi, Edward Shaer*). *Floater or did not play.

Approximately 50 colleges and universities have students and/or faculty working to establish clubs in the future.
