Cherry Blossom Backgammon Championship — May 10-13, 2018 — Hyatt Regency Dulles Airport

Spring is just around the corner! Make plans now for the ABT Cherry Blossom Backgammon Championship May 10-13, 2018. It is shaping up to be even better this year!

In response to your feedback, we have moved the location to the fabulous Hyatt Regency Dulles Hotel, 2300 Dulles Corner Boulevard, Herndon, VA 20171 two miles from Dulles airport for the rate of $117 per night plus taxes if reserved by April 15, 2018. It’s an elegant hotel, with free shuttle service from Dulles airport. The Executive Meeting Center (EMC) at the hotel includes free Wi-Fi and state-of-the-art spacious ballroom space. All of the newly renovated executive suite single and double guest rooms at the Hyatt Dulles feature exquisite furnishings, including a separate living area with full size sleeper sofas, granite topped desks with Executive chairs, and complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access.
We again have a highly experienced tournament staff team including tournament director Barry Silliman, Kent Goulding, Ben Friesen, Julius High, Jeb Horton, Robin Horton, Paul Horton, streaming staff Andy Lindeberg. and hospitality staff Linda Donaldson. Ed O’Laughlin is assisting with promotion of the event. The legendary Kent Goulding will direct the Jackpots and high-profile events — the Cherry Blossom Jackpot (entry fee of $1500 plus $500 and $1000 side pools),the George Washington Masters Jackpot, Abraham Lincoln Open Jackpot, and Thomas Jefferson Limited Jackpot, the USBGF Tournament of Stars, and a new AP Bluffgammon Invitational event ($250 entry with $1000 added money). Jeb Horton will direct the BMAB-USA event. Julius High will direct the Novice division and a Novice Jackpot, as well as staff a Backgammon Learning Table for Novices. Robin Horton will keep you hopping with side events galore — including the USBGF National Championship East (one free entry for USBGF members), Senior Senators/Young Politicos, the Hall of States/Embassy Row team event, Alfred Mamlet Newcomers Freeroll, and a new Mother’s Day event for women players.
Prizes and surprises are again in store! This USBGF Prime Tournament has a total of $2500 added money provided by sponsors, including $500 from the USBGF, a $900 FTH board, and donations from local sponsors including Alan Pruce, Karen Davis, Jason Lee, Alfred Mamlet, John Klein, and Bill Finneran.
We’re delighted to announce a dinner for Novices Saturday evening with two-time world champion Bill Robertie (tickets are $20). Bill will make remarks and autograph his books — so bring your copies!
Washington DC is a great tourist destination. Linda Donaldson, hospitality staff, will assist with making arrangements to visit over 100 Washington museums and monuments. Stay tuned for special activities planned for accompanying spouses/partners.
