Richard Munitz is a member of the USBGF Board of Directors and Executive Committee, chairs the USBGF Ratings and Stats Committee, and serves as Chief Technology Officer. Richard has played competitive backgammon since the 1990’s but had his breakout year in 2006 – winning the American Backgammon Tour. He finished third in the 2010 ABT Tour, and is in 4th place in the all-time ABT standings. He has been ranked by his fellow players as a Giant of Backgammon. In 2010, he won the Los Angeles Open, the Badger Classic Jackpot at the Wisconsin State Championships, and the Illinois State Championship. He won 1st place in the 2006 Michigan Summer Championships and the 2007 Las Vegas $2,000 Super Jackpot. He finished 3rd/4th in the USBGF Tournament of Stars doubles event with Ed Bennett. He finished second in the USBGF Howard Ring Memorial Quiz among Open players in LA in June 2010. He lives in Suffern, New York with his wife Deborah and three children. Richard has spent his professional career developing financial and market data systems. Other interests include racquetball, skiing, scuba diving and collecting beer bottles. He obtained a Masters degree from SUNY Stony Brook in Computer Science as well as a BS in both Computer Science and Mathematics.
