Patrick Gibson is a member of the USBGF Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He has overseen the creation of the USBGF ratings and statistics database, which now includes data on 2009, 2010, and 2011 ABT tournaments and over 1000 players. Patrick Gibson has been an active backgammon player, tournament organizer and director for over 30 years. He won the Nevada State championship in 2010, the 2007 Michigan Summer Championships, and the San Diego Grand Prix in 1994. Over the years, he’s garnered two trophies in the annual American Backgammon Tour – 2nd in 1994 and 3rd in 2007. Mr. Gibson is the Founder and head of Gammon Associates, and has produced backgammon tournaments in the Los Angeles area, as well as staffing other tournaments throughout the United States, Europe & the Caribbean, including directing 28 weekend Invitationals, 35 ABT events and over 3,000 local weekly tournaments since 1978.
He was co-director with Lynn Ehrlich of the USBGF Tournament of the Stars/National Championship in Los Angeles in 2011. He was part of Howard Markowitz’s team that directed the “2007 Atlantis PartyGammon Million Dollar Tournament on Paradise Isle in the Bahamas. In addition, he has directed charity events and served as a staffer and rules committee member at many other USA backgammon tournaments. Patrick participated in the development of the US Backgammon Tournament Rules & Procedures and both the US Backgammon Clock Rules & Procedures and “Clock Ethics.” All are currently in use throughout the U.S.
